About Me

Me, pretending to be a cowboy (something I do more often that is healthy).

I am a South African student studying Computer Science at the University of British Columbia. My mission in life is to use my knowledge and skills in education and technology to help improve the way we educate people and to thus help society to evolve.

Current Activities:

Studying Honors Computer Science at the University of British Columbia

Work Interests:

At the moment I am spending a lot of time thinking about ways to rework the web to make life easier for students and society in general. This ranges from student blogs, social networks, to content management and campus event calendars.

I am also constantly on the lookout for ways to make learning more efficient for myself and others. I often turn to technology to do that, but will also embrace some more traditional methods.

Lately I have been developing different frameworks and approaches to thinking about improving higher education.

One of my biggest areas of interest within Computer Science is Human-Computer Interfacing. It is an area of research and development that tries to build computers and programs that make it easier for humans and computing devices to communicate with each other.

Personal Interests and Activities:

I love the outdoors and being active. Some of my activities include running, swimming, playing ultimate frisbee, rock climbing and hiking. I am intensely competitive and will take up any game or challenge.

Is the Facebook section a feed!?

Nope… Facebook doesn’t allow you to feed out your profile (or much else for that matter). A lot of people (including myself) have a big problem with that.

  5. Hey Andre! I just met you yesterday- we disassembled robots together and I never put two and two together that you might be the Andre from the Blog Squad! :) I wasn’t really sure where to put this comment but I figured here was as good a place as any. Do you mind if I add a link to you on my blog, as well?
